| The original company, founded
in 1884 by James William Jerram,
established a reputation for building both public and private
buildings which
continued throughout the decades leading up to the Second World
War.
During the war the company, re-named after the founders grandson,
William James Jerram, was responsible for emergency repairs
to buildings
and infrastructure in London's East End. It followed, therefore,
that after the
war the company became involved in the re-building and post
war housing
programmes including being awarded the then new London Borough
of
Newham's first one million pound contract for housing, and
building the
now Grade II listed Blackwall Tunnel Ventilation Shafts for
the GLC.
In 1981, Falkus Construction Limited was purchased. This
was a Citybased
company with a reputation for high quality works, including
banks
and commerce, that had been trading since 1919. Falkus Joinery
Limited
was incorporated into what is now known as the Jerram Falkus
Group and
today is a modern and efficient manufacturing and specialist
division - the
largest facility of its kind in Central London.
